Screen printing is a printing technique which uses a mesh to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. Traditionally, the process was called silkscreen printing because silk was originally utilized during the process. Silk is no longer used, screens are now the preferred method of printing; therefore, the process is now called screen printing.
